In Transcarpathia, border guards detained 14 immigrants from Iraq and Afghanistan

Eight Afghan citizens and a possible smuggler of illegal migrants were detained yesterday by border guards of the Mukachevo detachment. Border patrol, that was on duty at one of the control posts together with the police, stopped a group of "travelers" for document check near Beregovo.  During the check, all detainees reported that they were citizens of Afghanistan. Along with illegal immigrants, a local resident without documents was detained. Now, the police are checking his involvement in trafficking of persons across the state border of Ukraine.

Also last night, in the area of the department "Horonhlab" of the Mukachevo detachment, a border patrol unit on the observation tower using a thermal imager detected six unknown persons moving towards the border. The response team was sent at the scene and detained the offenders a few hundred meters from the border line. The men had no documents but said that all of them were from Iraq. Border guards drew up a report on administrative violation and took the detainees to the border guard department for inquiries.
