Admiration and dismay - visitors of the regional ceramics exhibition shared their impressions (photos)
On October 16, the regional exhibition of ceramics "Prima Terra" opened in the "Uzhgorod" gallery. More than 20 ceramists of different generations presented their works: from artists well-known in Ukraine and abroad to students, whose names appeared at such a representative exhibition for the first time.
Art historian Oksana Havrosh, after visiting the exhibition, felt dismay... because Transcarpathian ceramists hold such presentations very rarely - once every 5 years. In fact, according to the expert, they have what to show. In particular, Oksana Havrosh noted that the exhibitors had managed to break the stereotype claiming that all ceramics is applied and valuable in everyday life rather than in art. "We saw excellent pictures and installations, ceramic design is noticeably present here, and artists must develop it further."
Most of the exhibitors are Transcarpathians, but there among them artists from Lviv and Kyiv. The exhibition was also attended by a guest from Chernivtsi - the Director of the City Art Gallery Natalia Bogomaz. She emphasized that Transcarpathian ceramic school is one of the leading in Ukraine. Natalia Bogomaz came to Uzhgorod because next year she is going to open the first museum of modern ceramics in Ukraine and, she admitted, she was lucky to find a lot of interesting authors in Uzhgorod.
The exhibition "Prima Terra" will last until the end of October.
