Works by Vasyl Gabda were exhibited In Uzhgorod in honor of the 90th anniversary of the artist
The retrospective exhibition of paintings by the People's artist of Ukraine Vasyl Gabda was inaugurated in the Regional Art Museum. This is one of several events dedicated to the anniversary of the artist. On the artist's birthday, July 11, the special cancellation of the stamp dedicated to Vasyl Gabda took place in Uzhgorod. As for the exhibition, they decided to move it from the holiday season to this time so that the widest possible range of art admirers could see the works of the artist. Especially given the fact that it is the first exhibition of Vasyl Gabda for the past 10 years.
The exhibition introduces to different periods of the ouevre of the artist who, according to critics, is among the ten most famous artists of Transcarpathia. Vasyl Gabda's teachers were the luminaries of the Transcarpathian painting A.Erdeli, Y.Bokshay, A.Kotska, whose influence is quite noticeable in the early works of the artist, but in the works of the mature artist, his unique style can be clearly seen, in particular their characteristic texture and seclusion, because the artist, after trying his hand at the open-air painting, decided that art is a deeply personal thing and for the last 25 years, he found a creative outlet in the village of Kamyanytsya near Uzhgorod - the son of the artist, famous contemporary painter Vladislav Gabda says.
Overall, the exhibition features about one hundred works - portraits, still lifes and landscapes. Some paintings were says for the exhibitionx by collectors and friends of the artist, the rest is kept in the family collection and the collections of Regional Art Museum.
The exhibited works are also represented in the album released in honor of the 90th anniversary of the artist that was published by Oleksandra Harkusha publishing house. The publication, which introduces to the life and career of the artist, can be found in local bookstores and libraries.
