There will not be two Balohas in the Transcarpathian Regional Council, instead, there will be one Moskal

The list of the deputies of the Regional Council published by Uzhgorod.in will obviously undergo some changes. In particular, in the quota of the United Center

The OPORA Transcarpathia informs that the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal became the deputy of the Transcarpathian Regional Council. The Baloha brothers – current deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine – refused from such mandates.

On Saturday, November 7, the newspaper "Novyny Zakarpattya" published the official list of the newly elected deputies of the Transcarpathian Regional Council. In total, this local government body will consist of 64 seats.

The head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal has become a deputy from the party "Bloc of Petro Poroshenko "Solidarnist", the list of which he headed. The party took the second place.

According to the results of the election, the leader of the United Center, current member of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Victor Baloha, who topped the list of this political forces, which won the first place, was also supposed to receive a mandate. Ivan Baloha, who is also the current MP, won the election in the constituency №14.

Victor and Ivan Balohas wrote statements for waiver of the mandates of a deputy of the Transcarpathian Regional Council which the Transcarpathian Regional Election Commission upheld by the order №71 of November 04.

Meanwhile, the wife of Victor Baloha – Oksana Baloha, who ran in the constituency №17 – was re-elected as a deputy of the Regional Council.                      

In accordance with Article 86 of the Law of Ukraine "On local elections," two candidates, who were elected chairmen of councils, waived their deputy mandates. Those are Ivan Lanyo from the party "Vidrodzhennya", who became the mayor of Svalyava and Stepan Bobyk from the party "United Center", who became the mayor of Irshava.

Overall, the number of seats won by the parties that passed the 5-percent barrier in the Transcarpathian Regional Council is distributed as follows:

  • "United Center" – 19 deputies;
  • "Bloc of Petro Poroshenko "Solidarnist" – 15 deputies;
  • "Vidrodzhennya" – 11 deputies;
  • "KMKS" Party of Hungarians of Ukraine" – 8 deputies;
  • "Batkivshchyna" – 7 deputies;
  • "Opposition bloc" – 4 deputies.
