Rules of fire safety - in every home
Transcarpathian rescuers do not stop prevention work among the population neither in summer nor in winter. Every month, representatives of the State Emergencies Service organize in the region a series of fire-prevention measures. There are themes for each particular seasons - the prohibition to burn dry vegetation, rules of use of heating devices and so on. With such measures, rescuers try to reach to the largest possible number of settlements in the region. In particular, since the beginning of this year, almost one hundred measures have been taken in Transcarpathia.
Rescuers make rounds in order to prevent fires, injuries and deaths on them, improve the fire protection in houses and educate the population on basic rules of fire safety.
During the rounds, rescuers pay special attention to large and poor families. People are informed on the basic rules of fire safety at home and on the procedure in the event of fire in a house or an apartment. In autumn and winter, rescuers, with the permission of owners, come into homes and check the correctness of operation of stove, gas and electric heating. Experience shows that the most common violations are lack of a metal sheet on combustible floor in front of the furnace flue opening, clothes drying above heating devices and excessive number of electric heaters. On this occasion, rescuers point out the found deficiencies to citizens and make recommendations to prevent fires.
However, prevention work is not limited only to visits to homes of the Transcarpathians. Rescuers leave leaflets on various subjects in buildings of city, village and town councils, on billboards and in public transport. Because he who is informed is forearmed!
