113 munitions from the Second World War were cleared in Rakhiv district (PHOTO, VIDEO)

On 21-22 of November, bomb experts of the Emergency and rescue special unit defused an arsenal of ammunition on the territory of Rakhiv district. The munitions were next to a stream in a wooded area near the village of Yasinya. They were found by a local resident, who was picking late autumn mushrooms.

Having arrived at the scene, the bomb experts removed from the soil 107 mortar shells of 50 mm caliber. According to the marking, these munitions were manufactured in 1944 in Germany. In addition, there were six hand grenades there – also made in Germany. In the absence of access roads and the inability to transport the munitions, it was decided to neutralize them on the spot, because this area was remote and there were no residential buildings nearby. Due to the large amount of ammunition, the demining work lasted two days.
