"Whoever breaks the law, especially if it concerns the land, the prosecutors will respond adequately" - Zareva
The prosecutor of Uzhgorod Ivan Zareva participated in the public hearing initiated by the Public Council of Uzhgorod City Council.
Ivan Zareva, who was appointed as the Prosecutor of the regional center just a month ago, answered all questions asked by members of the Public Council, activists and journalists.
In particular, he said that right after his appointment to the post, he had met with the Mayor of Uzhgorod and his deputies and reminded that without the approval of the city Master Plan, any decisions on land allocation would be illegal and warned that if the City Council adopt such decisions, they all would be canceled by the prosecution office in court. Therefore, the "land" questions were dropped from the session of the City Council.
Responding to a question about the decision of Uzhgorod City Council session, whereby the urban planning documentation for the individual residential block on Stefanyk street in Uzhgorod was approved in 2010, Ivan Zareva stressed that the prosecution office decided to withdraw the said lawsuit.
However, a number of land plots, in violation of the law, were allocated illegally, because they are within the protected zone of the international highway M 08. Therefore, in this case, the prosecutor's office is preparing a separate lawsuit.
The prosecutor of Uzhgorod called activists, journalists and the public to provide written evidence of any violations of the law in Uzhgorod, no matter who commits these violations and what political forces or officials are involved. All the evidence will be properly reviewed and, if appropriate, the information on violations of the law will be included in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations and criminal proceedings will be initiated.
