Vocational schools will be replaced with regional centers of vocational education
Instead of vocational schools, multi-professional educational institutions of a new type will be established in Ukraine - regional centers for vocational education.
According to the correspondent of the UNIAN, this was announced at the briefing by the Education Minister Serhiy Kvit.
According to him, the draft law is being reviewed in the government.
The bill, specificially, is aimed to resolve the issue of improvement of the professional education management by delegating appropriate functions to local authorities and local self-government bodies, which will strengthen their role in shaping the working potential of the country.
According to Kvit, there are about 1,200 vocational schools in Ukraine, and almost all of them began to function in Soviet times, so now their network does not meet modern needs.
Serhiy Kvit noted that the Dutch experience would be the best for Ukraine.
"They also had a very large network, but they created regional multi-professional centers for vocational education... That is, small institutions with only one specialty were replaced with large multi-professional schools" - Kvit informed.
According to Kvit, in every region of Ukraine special borads will be created that will have legal status. These boards will include representatives from vocational training institutions, local government, local business and industry.
"And those people, who are interested in the development of vocational education, will determine which occupations are needed, what should be developed, and they will be able to merge small establishments into large multi-professional ones." - Kvit said.
The Minister expressed hope that the new system of vocational training would be launched at the beginning of the new school year.
