Today, in Transcarpathia, there is no rush for any kind of food

On Tuesday, March 3, chaired by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Ukraine Oleksiy Pavlenko, there was the nationwide selector meeting on the situation in the consumer market and its saturation with food products. Transcarpathia was represented by the Deputy Governor Mykhailo Rivis, the management of the Department of Economic Development and Trade, Agricultural Development, representatives of bakeries and retail chains.

The Minister in his speech said that the sudden increase in prices for basic food was unfounded and associated with instability in the foreign exchange market and logistics errors.

Then, the selector meeting continued with reports from regions. In Transcarpathia, the prices of staple foods in the food market increased in the last decade of February. This especially concerns basic products like wheat flour - by 245%, pasta - by 172%, sugar - by 193%, sunflower oil - by 162%.

Since the beginning of the year, prices for basic kinds of bread have increased. The reason for this was the increase in purchase prices for grain, flour and energy components of its production.

Now, there is enough grain of wheat in the region. At present, there is no rush for any kind of food, the Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Development of the Regional State Administration Yuriy Lesyo said. According to the official, the prices of staple foods have stabilized. Thus, for example, the average price in supermarkets of Uzhgorod of a kilogram of wheat flour is 10 UAH, pasta - 13 UAH, sugar - 17 UAH., oil (1 liter) - 21 UAH, buckwheat - 24 UAH, rice - 25 UAH.

Also, it is planned to hold in the regional center the Easter fair for the sale of agricultural products at affordable prices.
