Customs officials were caught on bribery
Today, March 15, Prosecutors of Transcarpathian region, together with officers of the Security Service of Ukraine Special Forces in Transcarpathian region, detained officers of the customs post "Luzhanka" of the Transcarpathian customs office while they were receiving undue benefits amounting to 9,000 UAH.
The customs officers received this money from a Transcarpathians for assistance in transportation of goods across the border of Ukraine without payment of customs duties, the press service of the regional prosecutor's office informed.
Currently, the regional prosecutor's office launched criminal proceedings against those customs officers under Part 3 of Art. 386 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - obtaining undue benefit by an officer on a large scale, or committed by an officers, who holds a responsible position, or by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, or repeatedly, or combined with extortion of undue benefits - punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property and with a special forfeiture.
