Smuggling mishap befell a foreigner at the checkpoint "Dyakove"
A foreigner purchased cigarettes in Ukraine, wanted to get additional income, and instead left his "PEUGEOT 406" and 320 packs of "Jin Ling" at the border.
The Hungarian citizen was crossing the border yesterday, 5 of May. Arriving to the customs post "Dyakove" of the Transcarpathian customs office, he chose the "green corridor" for customs control.
Before the customs control, the Hungarian verbally stated that he had no items hidden from customs control or prohibited for export from Ukraine.
Customs officers decided to verify his words and took the car out of the "green corridor" for in-depth customs inspection.
The result: in a specially manufactured cache, they found undeclared during the oral imterview hidden from customs control foreign cigarettes "Jin Ling" without excise stamps of Ukraine - 320 packs, that were in the hollow space between the front panel and the engine compartment of the vehicle.
The Hungarian citizen recognized the cigarettes as his property and explained that he had acquired them from an unknown citizen, hid them and wanted to sell them in Romania, because he is currently unemployed.
Thus, the citizen committed acts aimed at moving goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control, ie using specially manufactured caches.
These actions have signs of violation of customs regulations under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Based on Article 511 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, cigarettes and the car "PEUGEOT 406" were seized.
