Last weekend, border guards of Chop detachment detained three "seekers of happiness" and, together with customs officers, found a hidden batch of cigarettes carried to the EU.

Three men, who were detained by "green berets" of the "Salovka" department almost at midnight in a borderland, could not produce any IDs at the request of law enforcement officers. Later, they said that they were citizens of Georgia. Regarding the purpose of their being near the border with Hungary, the detainees said that in search of better living conditions they planned to illegally migrate to the EU.

Currently, the offenders are being identified. The decision on legal liability and further fate of detainees will be taken in court.

In turn, at the border with Slovakia, border guards of the "Uzhgorod" department found in the eponymous checkpoint a batch of cigarettes which our countryman was trying to move in the structural cavities of his "Opel". During an in-depth inspection of the car, border guards together with customs inspectors found 169 packs of cigarettes that were hidden under the lining of the boot lid, under the hood and under the dashboard. The vehicle and cigarettes were seized according to the established procedure. The car was estimated at 44,500 hryvnia, the cost of the tobacco products is being established.
