In Transcarpathia, a "Sprinter 313 CDI" was confiscated because of cigarette smuggling

Ukrainians wanted to earn extra money by hiding cigarettes from customs control and selling them in Italy. They were leaving Ukraine in a utility vehicle "Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 313 CDI" through the checkpoint "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian customs office. In total, there were three citizens in the vehicle, two of them recognized the tobacco products as their property.

During the customs control, in the box for in-depth inspection, tobacco products hidden from customs control were found in the "Mercedes-Benz", namely: "Marlboro Gold" made in Ukraine with excise stamps of Ukraine in amount of 240 packs.

The cigarettes were hidden in a specially equipped and adapted cache in the vehicle. Customs officers found them using simple but reliable technical means of customs control: screwdriver, flashlight, viewing mirror, knife and a set of tools.

A report of customs rules violation was drafted against the citizens who recognized the smuggled cigarettes as their property, the tobacco products worth 4,680 UAH and the vehicle worth more than 207,000 UAH were confiscated.
