Improvement of public control before the local elections will be discussed in Uzhgorod (Announcement)

"Prospects for improving public control over the State Register of Voters of Ukraine before the elections to local councils"

On May 26, 2015, at 16.00, in the hotel "Duet Plus" (conference hall, 2nd floor), there will be a round table on "Prospects for improving public control over the State Register of Voters of Ukraine before the elections to local councils."

The main aspects of the development of the State Register, the international practice of public control over the registers will be discussed during the round table. One of the main objectives of the meeting is to discuss the openness of the State Register and control over compiling of voters list: which personal data of the State Register of Voters should be open to participants of the election process and how it can be ensured?

The following questions will also be discussed:

- Discussion of the identification problem in Ukraine in a broad context and specific identifiers that should or may be opened in the State Register of Voters.

- Introduction of the identity card of the citizen of Ukraine: step to electronic voting, voter remote management of their personal data.

- Promotion of the registration of IDPs to enable them to participate in voting in local elections.

Representatives of the State Register of Voters, government officials, NGOs, political parties, media and anyone interested in the subject of the discussion are invited to participate in the discussion of the optimal model of the State Register of Voters of Ukraine.
