From Somalia – in transit

In Transcarpathian Region, the State Border Service officers detained four citizens of Somalia who were heading to Hungary.

The unknown men were spotted by border patrol of the department "Luzhanka" of the Mukachevo Detachment. The violators were moving to the state border in the direction of the Ukrainian settlement of Astey and Hungarian Beregsurany. The response team was immediately sent at the scene to search for them, and the border guards of the neighboring state were notified.

A little later, the offenders were arrested. They were just 150 meters away from the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. The detainees had no IDs, however, they identified themselves as citizens of Somalia. At the moment, they have been taken to the border guard unit for preparation of administrative and procedural documents and conducting verification activities.

Meanwhile, all the circumstances of the offense are being investigated and the persons involved in the smuggling of illegal migrants are being identified, the press service of the State Border Guard Service informed.
