Environmental legislation of Ukraine is being adapted to European Union laws

The signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union and its Member States opens up new possibilities and sets new standards in different areas of public life, including environmental protection. Changes in environmental policy and legislation of Ukraine make it necessary to update the Environmental Strategy of Ukraine, the appropriate proposals for which are being prepared by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine.

Under the project "Additional support of the MEP of Ukraine in implementing the sectoral budget support", the seminars for the Western regions of the country were held recently in the city of Chernivtsi on the plans for approximation of environmental legislation of Ukraine to European Union laws and on public discussion of the project of the revised Environmental Policy Strategy of Ukraine. Transcarpathian authorities were represented by the spokesperson of the Environment Department Natalia Fulym. Representatives of the Faculty of Biology of UzhNU, NGO "Ecosphere" and the "Foundation for the development of ecotourism in the Uzhanska valley" also took part in the seminar

During the meeting, they talked about the structure, the process of preparing the national strategy for approximation of the legilation Ukraine to the EU laws in the field of environmental protection, considered the features of adapting environmental legislation in the sectors of "Nature protection", "Water quality and water management", "Waste and resource management" and others. Such seminars are scheduled in all regions of Ukraine.
