Because of false information, a Ukrainian lost his car
Today, May 8, 2015, at the customs post "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian customs office, customs officers seized from a citizen of Ukraine a "VW Caddy" for provision to the customs authority documents for the vehicle containing false information.
The citizen of Ukraine decided to undergo customs control in the "green corridor". As grounds for moving the vehicle across the customs border of Ukraine, the citizen presented a certificate of registration for the vehicle.
During the oral questioning, the Ukrainian said that he was moving across the customs border only personal effects and denied having any goods prohibited or restricted for movement across the customs border of Ukraine.
Based on analysis and risk assessment, the vehicle was taken out of the general queue for customs inspection. During the inspection, they found the discrepancy between the body number applied on the vehicle and that specified in the certificate.
The citizen said that the car was his property, he had bought it a few days ago from a stranger, and did not know about the mismatch of the identification number in the certificate of registration and that on the vehicle itself.
The actions of the citizen of Ukraine have signs of violation of customs regulations under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Currently, the report on violation of customs rules was drawn up, and the "VW Caddy" released in 2004 worth almost 143,000 UAH was confiscated.
The Parliament has limited duty-free import of goods across borders to no more than once in three days
