Young Transcarpathian gymnasts brought home 2 gold medals (PHOTOS)
The first nationwide rhythmic gymnastics tournament "Ukrainochka" took place in Koblevo. 380 girls (32 teams) from different parts of Ukraine took part in it. Oksana Nemyo and Kristina Kutsuk from Transcarpathia were among the most graceful and professional athletes in their categories. Though they are only 4 and 5 years old, respectively, there is a great sports future ahead of them.
In total, the Transcarpathian team consists of 16 athletes, 11 of whom brought home awards. In addition to the two gold medals, the Transcarpathian team won four silver and five bronze medals.
The mother of young Oksana told that the girl had been going in for gymnastics for just half a year ago, so the family wasn't really expecting her to win. "Oksana's rival were girls from the strongest teams. So, her victory was a surprise for us, but a very pleasant one! Oksana herself, however, was sure that she would win gold medal. So I think, it played a very important role in our victory," - Oksana Nemyo said.
The President of the Transcarpathian Regional Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Valentina Plavayko noted that in Mukachevo (the winnerd come from this city) the school of rhythmic gymnastics has been operating only for two years. "Previously, children did not have opportunity to go in for this sport, although many were interested. So we decided to open our branch there. The youngest athletes showed good results, because they started training at the same age as all their peers in Ukraine", - Valentina Plavayko commented.
Neither coaches, nor girls are going to stop on that. They are already preparing for the Championship of Ukraine, which will be held in Uzhgorod from 22 to 26 of July.
