Ukraine is 10 years behind developed countries in terms of yield
Growth rate of main crops yield in Ukraine repeats global trends from a decade ago.
This is said in the statement of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business.
In recent years, in Ukraine there has seen a significant increase in the yield of main crops which allowed to gather a record harvest of grains and oilseeds and practically equate yields to those of the leading countries of the world.
However, the current trend of growth was typical for the most developed countries 5-10 years ago, the experts of the UCAB specified.
Thus, for the last 5 years, the yield of corn in Ukraine has increased from 4.5 t / ha to 6.05 t / ha, sunflower - from 1.5 t / ha to 1.92 t / ha, rape - with 1,5t / ha to 2.4 t / ha. These figures were observed in Europe in 2000-2005.
The main reason for this development is the slow use of modern technological approaches and highly productive varieties and hybrids of seeds. Therefore, what has long been used in Europe is something completely new for Ukraine, the experts emphasize.
