Transcarpathian orienteers brought awards from Košice (PHOTOS)
214 men and 36 women took part in the 13th athletics halfmarathon Kosice - Senya that took place on June 21.
Slovak Tibor Shahayda won in the main categories - among men. The winner overcame 21 kilometers and 94 meters in 1 hour 7 minutes and 53 seconds, which is only 1 second more than the track record that was set in 2007. At the finish, the Slovak confused his fans a little as he was running in a yellow T-shirt with the inscription "Ukraine". "There are many Ukrainian among my friends and I took this uniform from one of them - thus I want to support the people in the struggle for European values," - the winner said.
Transcarpathians Eduard Gopak and Serhiy Raschupkin won silver and bronze awards of this competition. In the competition among women - Natalia Malaya from Uzhgorod showed the best result - 1 hour and 28 minutes. She finished ahead of Magulena Kristanova from Kosice and Slavka Pavukova from Presov.
41-year-old Anatoly Maly with the result of 1:14.33 won in the category of veterans.
