The regional ethnographic museum will be named after Tyvodar Lehotsky

The regional authorities want to name the Transcarpathian Regional Ethnographic Museum after Tyvodar Lehotsky.

This proposition was adopted by the decision of the meeting of the Transcarpathian Ethongraphic Museum staff and the public association "Ridne Zakarpattya". At this meeting, intellectuals of the region took the initiative to give the Transcarpathian Regional Ethnographic Museum the name of the prominent historian, archaeologist, ethnographer, founder of the museum industry in Transcarpathia Tyvodar Lehotsky.

Lehotsky made a significant contribution to development of science and culture of Transcarpathia in late nineteenth - early twentieth century. His research interests included archeology, history, ethnography, local history.

At one time his name was known far beyond the borders of modern Transcarpathia and Austria-Hungary. Tyvodar Lehotsky made an enormous contribution not only to the development of archeology in Transcarpathia, study of its history and culture, but also was one of the founders of the museum industry in Transcarpathia
