"The region helps seriously ill citizens alone" - Chubirko
Seriously ill Transcarpathians will receive 2,444,000 UAH for treatment under the regional program "Care".
The Chairman of the Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko notes that there are many citizens in the region who need surgeries, often outside the country. Unfortunately, people are forced to raise funds themselves through social networks and media. Often, patients are forced to sell their property in order to raise funds for treatment. Those are not isolated cases in the realities of Ukrainian "free medicine".
That is why, at the regular session of the Regional Council, the deputies made amendments to the program "Care" to improve social protection of citizens in 2015. The program provides for UAH 4.2 million to grant one-time financial aid for urgent transplant operations outside Ukraine, treatment of seriously ill patients.
Volodymyr Chubirko notes that the region solves the problems of seriously ill countrymen alone. "In fact, the Ministry of Health for unknown reasons does not pay enough attention to the problems of seriously ill patients. Desperate people turn to local authorities with their problems. We have adopted local programs and fund them ourselves. Seriously ill Transcarpathians will soon receive the first tranche in amount of almost two and a half million. Once again I emphasize that we will continue to help Transcarpathians. But the ministry should address the problems of seriously ill patients, because it is their direct duty. Here, we are not waiting for reforms from the center, we solve complex problems ourselves," - the Chairman of the Regional Council said.
