Making money on the EU

On June 26, in the city of Beregovo, in an office of the administrative building of the State Archive branch in Transcarpathian region, the police officers recorded the fact of receiving undue benefit in the amount of 2000 hryvnia by a ninth rank civil servant. The official demanded cash reward for assistance in the issuance of archival certificates on the birth of relatives who lived in the region before 1945. These certificates are used to obtain citizenship of Hungary.

The Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Office registered the incident under Part 3 of Article 369 (offer, promise or giving of an undue benefit to an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of four to eight years with confiscation of property. At this time, the matter of pre-trial restraint is being decided.

The press service of the regional Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds that at the Office for combating economic crimes in Transcarpathian region, there is a "hot line" to report crimes in the economic sphere. If anyone demands bribe from you, call the following number: 067 2000 102 or 102.
