In June, Ukrainians sold 174 million more foreign currency than bought

The volume of foreign currency sales in June, excluding the last day of the month, exceeded the volume of purchase by 174 million, which is almost equal to May figure - 177 million dollars.

This was announced by the director of open markets department of the NBU Serhiy Ponomarenko, the "Interfax-Ukraine" reported.

"Banks bought from individuals of $ 214 million and sold $ 40 million, the net balance is $ 174 million dollars", - he said at a press conference.

As reported, in May, individuals bought $ 207.3 billion, sold - $ 30 million, and in total, during January-May, net sales amounted to 619 million dollars, while during 2010-2014, the net foreign currency purchases by individuals were 39 billion dollars.

Ponomarenko also noted that the supply of foreign currency on the interbank foreign exchange market recently has been exceeding the demand, which led to the formation of excess and allowed the NBU to buy in the market 240 million dollars in June, and on July 1, the record of purchases in recent months can be fixed - 100 million dollars.
