Transcarpathian police chief promises unbiased investigation

The police are searching for people involved in the shootout in Mukachevo on both sides of the conflict.

This was stated by the newly appointed head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Office in Transcarpathian region Serhiy Knyazev in his comments to the Hromadske.

"The police are looking for those citizens who were involved in or witnessed those events on both sides," - he said, when asked whether the police are searching for, besides members of the "Rector Sector", the people of MP Mykhailo Lanyo who were involved in the incident. However, he refused to say if they are wanted as witnesses or participants of the events in Mukachevo.

In addition, according to Knyazev, an internal investigation in the Transcarpathian Office of the Interior Ministry will soon be conducted.

"Those police officers, who were involved in these offenses or in some schemes, including smuggling, will be detained, and the appropriate proceedings will be initiated," - he said.

Knyazev also added that independent specialists would be engaged in the investigation.

Recall that the new chief of Transcarpathian police was presented yesterday.
