Nearly 1,000 packs of cigarettes were seized on the border in Transcarpathia (PHOTOS)
Experts of the Transcarpathian customs office found in a "MERCEDES-BENZ VITO 115 CDI" 964 hidden packs of cigarettes. A citizen of Ukraine tried to cross the border in the checkpoint "Tisa". The contraband tobacco products were found after dismantling of a specially manufactured cache in a decorative plating of the car roof.
The Ukrainian chose the "green corridor" for customs control. During the oral questioning, he confirmed that he was not moving any items hidden from customs control.
Based on analysis and risk assessment, the vehicle was taken out the general queue of the "green corridor" and sent to the box for in-depth inspection.
During in-depth customs control, customs officers found tobacco products of domestic production without excise stamps labeled "For Duty Free Only", namely 442 packs of "Compliment Super Slims 3" and 522 packs of "Super Slim Lifa Menthol".
The citizen of Ukraine acknowledged that the cigarettes were his property.
Thus, the Ukrainian committed actions aimed at moving goods across the customs border concealing them from customs control and using specially manufactured cahce. These actions contain signs of violation of customs regulations under part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Based on Article 511 of the CCU, the goods being the direct objects of customs regulations violation and the vehicle with the specially manufactured cache used to conceal goods from customs control were seized.
The cost of the "MERCEDES-BENZ VITO 115 CDI" made in 2003 is 262,741 UAH. The cost of the seized cigarettes require additional evaluation.
