In Transcarpathia, 125 street children were found during six months

In Transcarpathia, specialists of the services for children of district state administrations and municipal executive committees in cooperation with the police this year have conducted 277 operations as part of preventive measures "Street Children", "Teenager", "Station" and so on.

         According to the head of the service for children of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Svitlana Yakimelina, the goal of the operations is the prevention of child neglect and homelessness, prevention of offenses among children, taking appropriate measures for placement of children in difficult circumstances in social welfare institutions and providing them with social, legal, health care.

         According to the official, during the preventive raids, 125 children were found in the region. Of those, 29 are of preschool age, 94 are students of secondary and vocational schools, 2 do not study or work.

"The number of detained children, who are homeless, prone to vagrancy and begging, in Transcarpathian region has increased by 2%. In the first half of the last year, we found 106 such children, this time - 108," - Svitlana Yakimelina said.

Like the last year, during the preventive operations, one child, who used alcohol, was found.  

Of all the minors, found during the raids, 60 were placed in the orphanage and the center for social and psychological rehabilitation of children, 30 were returned to their parents or persons substituting them, 2 were returned to boarding schools, 16 were put to health care facilities.

Specialists of the services for children of district state administrations and municipal executive committees have examined 519 functionally incompetent families, taken 48 children out of adverse domestic environment.  223 parents were repremanded for improper performance of parental duties, 97 were prosecuted for violations of children's rights.
