Transcarpathian Migration Service is increasing the number of stations to issue biometric passports
The Main Office of the State Migration Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region is increasing the number of stations to issue biometric passports. As of today, ten territorial divisions of the SMS have received the so-called workstations for taking biometric data. The equipment has been mounted, the Migration Service employees have been trained. This week, the subdivisions are working in a test mode, and in the nearest future, the reception of citizens will be performed in normal mode. According to the Head of the Main Office of the SMS of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region Igor Mykhailyshyn, the Migration Service employees are making every effort to meet the demand of Transcarpathians in biometric documents.
In order to receive a passport of the new design, you should apply to the migration service department. To apply for a travel passport, you should take your passport of the citizen of Ukraine and, if you have not received a passport for travelling abroad before, a certificate of tax payer.
A passport of a citizen of Ukraine for travelling abroad containing a contactless electronic media (chip) includes two types of data - primary and advanced. The primary data include detailed information about the person - name, date of birth, digitized photograph, digitized signature of the person. The advanced data include fingerprints. This information shall be included only with the consent of the person. Also, under the current law, citizens of Ukraine have the right to opt out of biometric passport and to receive a passport of the new model, but without a biometric chip.
Documents issued before January 1, 2015 will be in force until the expiration of the specified document. You can continue to travel abroad and receive visas with them. To replace it with a biometric passport is the right but not the duty of a person.
