Famous heart surgeon Boris Todurov has come to Transcarpathia
Today, the Regional Council Chairman Volodymyr Chubirko met with the famous Ukrainian heart surgeon Boris Todurov. The event was also attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council Mykhailo Popovich, the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka, the Head of the Regional Department of Health Vasyl Skryp, the chief physician of the city hospital Ivan Kurakh.
The surgeon eight years ago established the Heart Center. Last year, the hospital received the status of the national institution. He is actively engaged in supporting the volunteer movement, every week he travels to the eastern borders of the country. Tomorrow he plans to send goods to Artemivsk hospital, including for Transcarpathian soldiers. In Transcarpathia, he plans to deliver a course of lectures. Boris Todurov offered to help our doctors. He told the Chairman of the Regional Council that there are courses in the institution and that they were ready to train Transcarpathian doctors. These courses are held twice a year. The Centre bears all the cost of training. He also believes that cardiac surgery should continue to develop in the region.
"The situation in the health care is difficult. There have been a lot of declarations, but few practical steps. Therefore it is good that in Transcarpathia local authorities plan reform the healthcare locally. I think the country needs a law on health insurance. Only in this way, we can provide medical services at the European level", - Boris Todorov said.
Volodymyr Chubirko said that a working group had been established at the UzhNU that had developed the concept of the health care reform in the region. Also, at the expense of the World Bank, the cardiac surgery in the region will be developed, another center will be created in the region. He also thanked the doctor for his help to the City Hospital.
Also Volodymyr Chubirko suggested to sign a tripartite agreement between the Regional Department of Health, the Heart Center and UzhNU.
