30 houses in Transcarpathia are under a threat of flooding because of the HPP
In Tyachiv district of Transcarpathian region, thirty homes are under a threat of destruction because of the default of the "Komertskonsalt" LLC, which initiated the construction of a mini-HPP.
Local residents have already appealed to members and the Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council with a request to force the owners of the organization to fulfill the promise or to stop the construction at all.
The people say that the problem is caused by the Krasnoshurka river that flows through the village. There have been floods in the village before, but not to such an extent as it was last year. The cause is the construction of the hydroelectric power plant, for which the river was narrowed, and its bed was changed.
And now, there is a great danger at the sharp bend of the river. The bank, where the plant is being built, was reinforced as required, but the opposite one was not secured at all. Workers only made a gravel mound, which can not protect from anything.
During the public hearings, the hydroelectric power plant owner promised to strengthen the bank, but still has not done anything.
In this situation, people can only hope that with the coming of spring their homes will not be flooded.
