At the first plenary meeting of the second session of the Regional Council, deputies almost unanimously approved the program "Care" to strengthen social protection of citizens in the years 2016-2018.
This was preceded by painstaking work in specialized committees, during which they made several important amendments to defend the interests of countrymen and to strenghthen the control over the correctness of calculation and payment of material assistance to vulnerable residents of Transcarpathia.
The aim of the Program is to implement state policy on social protection, to provide financial aid to low-income, disabled, severely and chronically ill citizens, large and incomplete families, elderly people, war and labor veterans, persons with disabilities, including disabled children, as well as participants of the antiterrorist operation, wounded, injuried (or one of their family members), the families of killed residents of Transcarpathian region – participants of the antiterrorist operation, internally displaced persons and other citizens who, due to lack of financial security, need social support; to support public organizations of disabled and veterans and other public associations, etc.
The Program activities will be financed with funds provided for its implementation in the Regional Budget for the relevant budget period. Thus, the projected funding for the program amounts to UAH 96,682.0 thousand, including UAH 30537.0 thousand in 2016, UAH 32228.0 thousand in 2017, UAH 33917.0 thousand in 2018.
– The decision will make it possible to take care of social protection, improve material living conditions of disadvantaged categories of citizens, to provide them with specific social and economic assistance, will facilitate integration into society of significant share of the population of the region, and will help create favorable conditions for their involvement in all areas of public life – the Chairman of the Regional Council Mykhailo Rivis summed up.
