The management of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region honored the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident
On December 14, the Day of honoring liquidators of the Chernobyl accident - people who sacrificed their own lives and health to overcome the terrible tragedy of the twentieth century - is traditionally celebrated in Ukraine.
It has already become a tradition, to hold meetings on this occasion between the management of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region and veterans of the Fire and Rescue Service, who participated in the luquidation of the aftermath of the nuclear power plant accident.
There were many Transcarpathians among those who were fighting with unbridled atomic radiation. To save Ukrainians and other peoples from the nuclear danger, they sacrificed their own health and life.
The event started with a welcoming speech of the Chief of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region Roman Hudak. He congratulated liquidator veterans and expressed sincere gratitude for saving the world from nuclear plague.
"The Chernobyl catastrophe is pain and tragedy, it is the heroism and sacrifice of the people who stopped the uncontrolled atom. It is important not to forget them - the living and those who have passed away, because they took the most severe blow of the nuclear disaster that retreated to their courage. We bow our heads to you" - Roman Hudak said.
Then the Chief of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region presented the honorable awards of the Association of war and civil protection veterans "The medal "For valor and victory" - to liquidator veterans Ivan Hertsa and Filimon Omelyanyuk.
