The volume of tobacco smuggling in Transcarpathia in 2015 has increased more than 16 times. This was announced today at a press conference by the head of the department of risk analysis and combating customs offenses of the Transcarpathian customs office Bogdan Yavorsky, the correspondent of the UNN informs.
According to him, while last year, the cost of the seized illegal tobacco products was UAH 207 thousand, this year the amount reached UAH 3 million 380 thousand.
The increase of the number of seized vehicles that are used to transport contraband is also observed.
In 2014, the Customs Office confiscated 45 cars at total cost of UAH 2 million, this year – 60 cars worth UAH 9 million 705 thousand.
