The new procedure lead to complete closure of production of mineral waters in Transcarpathia

The head of the RSA Hennadiy Moskal sent a letter to the Minister of Health Alexander Kvitashvili requesting to review the draft order "On approval of regulations on natural mineral water." The Order provides for a new procedure for state registration of drinking water, which is to be classified as "natural mineral water" and a new category of "drinking mineral water."

- The new procedure for state registration can result in disappearance of Transcarpathian mineral water, which is now sold freely in the sales network, from the market of medical waters, and they will be available only in pharmacies - H. Moskal said.

- Here, in Svalyava district alone, industrial bottling of mineral water is carried out at 12 plants with capacities of around 45,000 bottles per hour. The share of mineral water production here is more than 50 percent of the total industrial production and 27 percent of revenues to the budget.

The enactment of the order of the Ministry of Health will lead to cessation of mineral water producers' business, elimination of at least three thousands jobs, and reduction of revenues by about UAH 50 million a year!

H. Moskal asks A.Kvitashvili to withdraw the draft order "On approval of regulations on natural mineral water" and develop a new draft of regulations on packaged water with the assistance of experts from Transcarpathia.
