On problems with Transcarpathian roads and readiness for the winter
Today, the Head of the Road Service in Transcarpathian region, Mykhailo Popovich said at a briefing that the branches of the "Zakarpatoblavtodor" were ready for the winter and road builders Transcarpathia were open to cooperation and would promptly react to the problems identified by journalists.
Transcarpathian regional road company has prepared 160 units of machinery for the winter. About 4,000 tons of technical salt, 12,000 tons of crushed stone bran and 100 tons of mineral mixtures are stored in warehouses. There are also sufficient quantities of lubricants - Popovich says.
Traditionally, the main problem of regional road builders is underfunding. Despite the allocation of 67 million hryvnia for operational maintenance of the roads, the money raised from the Carpathian Euroregion - 37.5 million, the funds were not enough to deal with all issues in 2015. However, for the first time in five years, continuous stretches of roads were built. Those were mostly on the highway Mukachevo-Rohatyn.
Currently, the most problematic area is the road near the checkpoint "Vylok-Dyakovo" in Vynogradiv district, a significant amount of money will go to the restoration of a retaining wall at the Synevyr pass, which collapsed recently.
The essential problem of road repairs funding is that 70% of funds are allocated in the last months of the year, while most of the work have to be performed in summer.
