Soon, the whole country will plunge into the maelstrom of New Year and Christmas holidays. Of course, they can not be imagined without beautiful Christmas trees, sparkling colorful lights, loud fireworks and other traditional attributes.
However, to ensure that they bring only happy and joyful moments rather than disasters caused by uncontrolled fire, the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region encourages citizens to follow basic fire safety rules, which, by the way, are quite simple.
The holiday can be spoilt, for a example, by a violation of Christmas tree arrangement rules. One small spark, for example from faulty fairy-lights, candles or Bengal lights can turn a green beauty into a torch. Flammable toys (made of paper, foam plastic, celluloid, etc.) which often adorn the Christmas tree may aggravate the situation. The consequence? In the best case – destroyed property, in the worst case – lost lives.
So, to avoid this, first of all, a green beauty should be mounted on a steady foundation. To illuminate the Christmas tree, use only industrial electric lights. Also, it is useful to remember, that in no case, enabled illumination can not be left unattended. By the way, this is especially true for entrepreneurs. To make their shopping facilities look more festive and attractive, they decorate shop windows with electric lights, often leaving them switched on overnight. And they really should not, because Transcarpathian firefighters many times have had to save all kinds of merchandise from destruction by fire because of illumination.
As you can see, the basic requirements of fire safety when arranging a Christmas tree and holding celebrations are simple, but their observance will not allow to dampen celebrations with various troubles related to fire and injuries.
