In Transcarpathia, border guards found and arrested 4 illegal migrants from Sri Lanka heading to EU countries

Yesterday, border guards of the department "Stuzhytsya" of the Chop detachment detained another "seekers of happiness" for attempting to illegally cross the border.

Thus, border guards received from members of the community the information that a group of unknown persons was moving in the direction of the state border to Slovakia. As a result of the measures taken, the task force found 4 unknown persons near the state border. As usual in such cases, none of the detained offenders had IDs and they told border guards that they were citizens of Sri Lanka.

Given the state of the weather conditions and the presence of snow, representatives of South Asian countries were rather cold. When they were taken to the Department of the Border Guard Service, one of the men was given first aid due to frostbite.

Now, the circumstances of the offense are being established and administrative and procedural documents are being drawn up. The decision on legal liability and further fate of detainees will be taken in court.
