By train and by car: another seizure of cigarettes at customs posts in Transcarpathia
Illegal transportation of tobacco products across the border for profit is one of the main reasons of vehicle confications at the Transcarpathian customs office.
For example, yesterday, a citizen of Ukraine, following on private matters to Hungary by a car "NISSAN", hid in four specially made caches in structural cavities of the car 370 boxes of cigarettes "Rothmans Demi" with filter and excise stamps of Ukraine. The country of origin of the tobacco products is to be determined.
The cigarettes were found by customs officers together with border guards.
Also yesterday, in the customs control area of the customs post "Chop-Railway", domestically made cigarettes "Rothmans" and "Bond" in amount of 96 packs concealed from customs control were found in the luggage of a female citizen of Hungary following to Hungary in the train "Chop-Budapest". The cigarettes were hidden in nylon stockings underneath a travel bag lining.
Thus, the citizen of Ukraine and the citizen of Hungary committed actions to move goods concealed from customs control across the customs border of Ukraine. Their actions have signs of violation of customs regulations envisaged by Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Based on Article 511 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, the tobacco products worth 4,090 UAH and the car "NISSAN" made in 1998 were seized from the Ukrainian, and the tobacco products worth 1,008 UAH were seized from the Hungarian.
Reports on violation of customs rules against the both citizens were made.
