A museum of manuscripts and rare books will be opened in UzhNU

As you know, the department of manuscripts and early printed editions of the Scientific Library of UzhNU is a unique collection of manuscripts and printed artifacts of XV-XIX centuries which consists of more than 20,000 items, of which 26 copies are a collection of incunabula.

From now on, the valuable artifacts will be exhibits of the newly established Museum of manuscripts and early printed books of the SHEI "UzhNU" Research Library.

The institution will operate on the first floor of the episcopal residence of Uzhgorod Greek Catholic Cathedral - room №10. In accordance with the regulations approved by the Academic Council of the University on November 27, the main activities of the museum will be research and development, acquisition of exhibits for museum collections, exhibition, stock and heritage preservation work and so on.

The Museum of manuscripts and early printed books aims to promote and popularize book heritage, to provide an opportunity for researchers, teachers to use source material of the museum in the research work and the teaching process. Also, the museum offers to conduct tours, lectures and more.
