Will Uzhhorod City Hall stop pocketing money from fairs?
Ivan Shkyrta, the man of Moskal, who was recently appointed the Acting Deputy Mayor of Uzhgorod, is already showing his activity. The official, who has recently come to our city, writes on his facebook:
"Today, we visited the holiday of Honey Saviour on Nezalezhnist embankment, attended the fair and talked with visitors, with traders who brought their goods from around the Transcarpathia. People indignantly complain that for every trading place the City Hall demand from them 200 hryvnia.
I checked it and found out that this "initiative" is not agreed with anyone. Someone decided to make some money in this way. I ordered to cancel these requisitions. Let this fair be a gift for the participants and guests of Uzhgorod. Have a good holiday!".
We would like to inform the official that in fact in Uzhgorod money has been collected from the participants of fairs for years. According to businessmen, a convenient place for trade costs two thousand hryvnia or more. The money is paid unofficially and not recorded anywhere.
Moreover, the mayor's office has officially admitted that festivals and fairs in Uzhgorod are unprofitable.
For more details, read our study of these "holidays" and their benefit for the city.
In the meantime we hope that the words about cancellation of fees will not remain just words, and this issue will be resolved.
