What to do with waste in Transcarpathia?

The regional council suggests the project for management of waste that has long been a spoonful of tar in wonderful Transcarpathian landscapes. They are talking about solid waste management. Actually, it has been significantly intensified over the last month - the construction of a waste processing plant and designing of several more has started.

The Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko appealed to the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka and the Director of the Institute of State Administration and Regional Development Volodymyr Prikhodko with a proposal to consider drafting the solid waste management project for the European Investment Bank, - the press service of the Regional Council informs.

Volodymyr Chubirko agreed with the head of the bank office in Ukraine Liliya Cherniavska on the use of the EIB framework loan "Municipal structure in Ukraine" (sector - "solid waste").

The solid waste project is a sector that is acceptable for funding under the Framework Agreement of the European Investment Bank for Ukraine. Under the project, Transcarpathia can create landfills, build waste processing complexes.

"This is an interesting proposal of the European partners for our region. With investments from Europe, we can solve the waste problem. And the first such project is already being implemented in Beregovo district where thr EU co-finances the construction of a waste processing complex. The interest of the Europeans in resolving the problem is understandable - they want the territories adjacent to the EU to be clean. And we must actively take advantage of the neighbors' assistance", - Volodymyr Chubirko said.
