The second walk in the silence (PHOTOS)
Correspondents of Uzhgorod.in continue the series of walks with a camera in the cemeteries of the regional center of Transcarpathia which, recall, began with the Kirkut. This time we ran away from the hustle of the city life, to put our thoughts in order, to the old cemetery on Peremoha street in Uzhgorod.
Since August 2012, it has been belonging to Mukachevo Greek Catholic diocese.
At the beginning of the cemetery from Kapushanska street, Greek Catholic congregation built a wooden church. The area around the building is locked for the night.
Activists and parishioners of the diocese occasionally clean up the cemetery. The last major cleaning took place during the nationwide campaign "Let's make Ukraine clean together."
We came in order to put our thoughts in order, but we had to think about ordering the place of mourning...
There is still plenty of rubbish, despite the cleanup. Some residents seem to not have learnt to appreciate not only the living, who have to endure the stench passing by the graves fouled with cigarette butts, rags and bottles, but also the deceased buried in this cemetery. Also, we noticed broken crosses and monuments on the graves. Sad...
Recall that there are 9 cemeteries within Uzhgorod. In the territory of the Baranyntsi village council, there is the "Barvinok" cemetery. Correspondent of Uzhgorod in has already visited two of them. Walk in the silence goes on. To be continued...
