The monument to Sandor Petofi has been damaged again (PHOTOS)
The monument to the Hungarian poet Sandor Petofi on the eponymous square in the city center was attacked again on the eve of the main holiday of Hungary - the Day of St. Istvan.
Now, law enforcement officers are searching for the person who damaged the sword on the monument to the Hungarian poet Sandor Petofi.
Yesterday evening, Uzhgorod police received the report of a damage to the monument to Petofi on the eponymous square in Uzhgorod.
The investigative team arrived at the scene. The police found out that an unknown person had broken off a piece of the sword on the bronze monument to the Hungarian poet Sandor Petofi.
The police classify the actions of the offender under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism). He faces a fine of 500 to 1,000 tax-free minimum incomes, arrest for up to six months or imprisonment for up to five years.
The police appeal to citizens asking to provide any information that may assist in uncovering the offense.
