“Black days” for Transcarpathian border guards

The head of the Western Regional Office of the State Border Guard Service, Major-General Volodymyr Pleshko introduced the staff the new chief of Mukachevo border guard detachment – Colonel Volodymyr Parshikov, the Zakarpattya online reported.

Volodymyr Pleshko hopes that the new appointment will lead to improvement of the performance of the border guard service in Transcarpathia.

Colonel Volodymyr Parshikov was born March 24, 1974 in Shepetivka, Khmelnytsky region. He has been in military service since 1991. He has served as the deputy chief of outpost, the chief of outpost, officer of border guard detachment staff.  

Meanwhile, Mukachevo.net, citing the Ukrainska Pravda, informs that 700 additional border guards have been sent to Transcarpathia. This was stated by the First Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service Vasyl Servatyuk at the meeting of the temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada to investigate the events in Mukachevo.

– To date, about 700 people have been sent to the region. The density of the border has been increased, – he said.

These measures, he said, gave the result, and for the past two weeks, border guards have detained 625 boxes of smuggled cigarettes.

Servatyuk also said that 11 criminal proceedings against 15 border guards suspected of involvement in smuggling are being investigated.
