Belarusian cigarettes did not get to Hungary from Striy through Transcarpathia
Border guards report that they have found a smuggling channel.
Yesterday, at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, as part of joint measures for combating corruption and smuggling in Transcarpathian region, employees of the State Border Guard Service and the State Fiscal Service found 57 thousand packs of contraband cigarettes. The tobacco products were found during the inspection of the truck "Renault", in which our compatriot was leaving Ukraine through the checkpoint "Tisa". Employees of the crossing point found the goods in pine boards, which he was carrying.
The urgent measures taken by operative divisions of the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and investigative units of the State Fiscal Service Further to identify and establish possible places of accumulation of contraband goods and persons involved in this offense have brought results.
Today in the city of Striy in Lviv Region, officers of the operative-search unit and employees of fiscal authorities, during the inspection of the firm that packaged the found pallets with cigarettes, found the warehouse from which the goods had been delivered. At this base, they also found 36 pallets with a large quantity of contraband cigarettes made in Belarus which the offenders apparently planned to smuggle across the border by another vehicle.
Currently, the investigation is being conducted under the criminal proceeding - the State Border Guard Service informs.
