A unique center may appear in Transcarpathia
For three months, a working group at the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration has been developing the draft regional program "On the psychological, pedagogical and medico-social support for children with autism spectrum disorders." It was established at the initiative of the NGO "Happy Children" and parents of children with autism and brought together representatives of the departments of Education, Finance, Social Welfare, psychological, medical and educational counseling, health care departments, the service for children of the RSA, and Transcarpathian regional center of social services for families, children and youth, as well as specialists of the CO "Medical Aid Committee in Transcarpathia".
The result of several months of work group is the project of the regional program, which, if adopted by the deputies of the Regional Council, will allow to introduce a number of important measures aimed at early identification of children with autism spectrum disorders, as well as provision of further psychological-pedagogical and medico-social support.
To this end, the program envisages the establishment of the Regional inclusive resource center of children's development at the Regional psychological, medical and pedagogical counseling at the Department of Education and Science of the Regional State Administration. This center will employ specialists (speech therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, etc.) that will be helping in rehabilitation of children with autism spectrum disorders. The program is designed for 5 years and envisages, in addition to funding from the regional budget, the possibility to attract the support of concerned international partners and sponsors who care about the problems of children and adults with autism spectrum disorders.
It all depends on the regional deputies. If they support the public initiative, a unique resource center may be established in Transcarpathia, the press service of the NGO "Happy Children" informs.
