There is no representative of Transcarpathia in the constitutional commission - V. Baloha

"The Parliament Speaker said that there are representatives from all regions of Ukraine in the constitutional commission. However, I did not find a representative of my native Transcarpathia, and instructed to check whether the words of the speaker are true" - MP Victor Baloha wrote on his page on facebook.

"It turned out that members of the Constitutional Commission represent more than half the regions of the country.

But in fact there are 6 regions that are no represented in the Constitutional Commission. In addition to Transcarpathia, those are Luhansk, Ternopil, Kherson and Chernihiv regions," - the politician said.

"I understand that a large number of representatives of Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv and Odessa is a direct consequence of the fact that these cities have always been powerful legal centers. But even under Yanukovych, there was a representative of Transcarpathia in the Constitutional Assembly - the Dean of the Faculty of Law of Uzhgorod National University Vasyl Fazykosh. Why, for example, Vinnytsia region is now represented by as many as 4 people and Transcarpathia by none is a mystery to some extent, but not for us.

But given the situation, frankly, it is not time for irony. Because with the new Constitution, we will have to live and build the state somehow. And if we try to manipulate the facts having not even started writing it, then the result of this process may disappoint many people" - V.Baloha said.
