The head of the RSA encourages Transcarpathians to celebrate the 8th and 9th May informally

The head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal encourages to abandon old ways of commemorating memorable dates, such as those that were instituted in the Soviet years. In his view, it is particularly relevant in relation to celebrations of the dates that we commemorate in May. Those are the 8th of May - the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation in Ukraine and the 9th of May - the Day of Victory over Nazism in World War II. It is clear that in view of the armed conflict that continues in eastern Ukraine, these days in the country have special significance and spirit.

The head of the region held a meeting with heads of departments of the RSA on the organization of celebrations - both on May 9 and 8, which for the first time will be celebrated in Ukraine at the state level. Vasyl Hubal stressed that the events related to the celebration of these dates should not be "bureaucratic", formal, such as traditional laying of wreaths, but should have a special significance, unite the community around ideas of patriotism.

In particular, Vasyl Hubal instructed to invite to the celebrations not only students and young people, but also the ATO participants. Also, he suggested educators to conduct thematic lessons in schools, which can be called Lessons of patriotism or Lessons of courage, also with the participation of defenders of Ukraine.

As you know, a symbol of these dates is a red flower, the shape of which resembles a bullet hole. This symbol is common in celebration of May 8 and 9 in Europe, and particularly in Ukraine. The head of the region gave appropriate instructions to make these attributes and invited countrymen, the public to honor these days with this symbol - as a symbol of unity around the ideas of peace and remembrance. Of course, among the main attributes, there will also be Ukrainian symbols, in particular the national colors.

As for the celebration of the May dates, during which many events will be held in the cities and districts of the region, the regional authorities inform that on May 8, Transcarpathia will join the nationwide Minute of Silence, and on May 9, there will be a joint memorial service to honor the victims.

The head of the regiona invites all countrymen to participate in the events and celebrations devoted to the memorable dates, and prove that Transcarpathia, without forgetting the events of the World War II and honoring the victims, is united with patriotism and seeks peace with all friendly community. "I believe that thousands of Transcarpathians will not ignore these days and come to celebrations - with national symbols in their hands, poppies on their chests and Ukraine in their hearts", - Vasyl Hubal said.
