The Chairman of the NCRE explained how Ukrainians can pay the new gas prices

The government will raise the price of gas for the population, but creates an opportunity to receive subsidies to partially make up for the increased cost.

This was said at the hour of questions to the government in the parliament by the chairman of the National commission for regulation in energy and utilities Dmytro Vovk.

Vovk reminded that the electricity price will be raised in five stages, and gas prices will be raised over the next two years.

He explained that Ukraine had raised the price of gas for industry in April up to around 9,600 UAH.

"For households, the regulator set two prices: 3,600 UAH and 7,200 UAH. 3,600 is a very difficult price, since it is only 50% of the one that we targeted. It will be applied mainly in rural areas, where it is used the most" - Vovk said.

He explained that this tariff would be applied during the heating season for consumption of up to 200 cubic meters.

"Starting from the two hundred and first cubic meter, one will have to pay 7,200 UAH", - Vovk said.

"We receive many questions, how people in rural areas could pay this price? Simply, there is the Ministry of Social Policy, which provides targeted subsidies for vulnerable population," - he added.

Vovk said that the NCRE ordered "all the energy transmission companies to sent out applications for subsidies in April-May."
