State of the agricultural sector in Transcarpathia in January-March 2015
The total agricultural production estimated in all categories in January-March 2015, has decreased compared with January-March of 2014 by 4.6%, including at agricultural enterprises - by 6.6%, and at households - by 6.4%.
Crops. As of April 1 this year, all categories of farms have planted spring crops over an area of 5.6 hectares, which is 20.8% less than that in the last year, 83.3% of which is the land planted with cereals. Of the total area planted with cereals and legumes, 88.4% account for households. They also have started planting early varieties of potatoes and sowing early vegetables.
Livestock. All categories of farms, as of April 1, 2015, manage 155.9 thousand heads of cattle (87.1% compared to the same period in the last year), including 96.6 thousand cows (89.8%), 320.5 thousand pigs (100.2%), 215.2 thousand sheep and goats (97.1%), 3050.2 thousand heads of poultry (100.7%).
During January-March 2015, 18.5 thousand tons of meat was produced (103.9%), 64.6 thousand tons of milk (91.2%), 61.3 million pcs. of eggs (101.0%).
The measures to create favorable conditions for domestic production and support of animal husbandry in the commodity sector are being taken in the region. Specifically, there is the "Program for development and support of livestock, poultry and bee husbandry for 2010-2015", which provides for the support of the industry in 14 areas.
1,250,000 UAH was allocated from the regional budget for the implementation of the Program in 2015. The priorities for support in 2015 will be the support of sheep farming, dairy farming, construction and reconstruction of milk and meat processing facilities and acquisition of appropriate equipment for them.
